Best Kitesurfing Spots in Asia

Having lived in Thailand for several years I have been blessed by the huge choice of outdoor activities on offer, from cycling in Thailand, wakeboarding and kiteboarding in Asia - conditions in this part of the world rival anywhere else on the planet.

I have been passionate about the outdoors since I was able to walk, no doubt fueled by my upbringing in the Black Mountains in South Wales and since moving to Thailand I have been on a constant quest to find adventure regardless of where I am in the region.  Often the best experiences are found in the most un-likely of places.  Mountain biking in Bangkok anyone?!

Kitesurfing has been growing in popularity for many years now and I often come across kiteboarders in the Gulf of Thailand, whether it be locals off Rayong or the more established areas such as Pranburi and Hua Hin, there is a devoted following of kitesurfers in Asia.  Having travelled extensively in the region, I recently came across Funboard Center Boracay, a kitesurfing and windsurfing company located on Bulabog beach in, you guessed it - Boracay.  Bulabog is the prime area for kitesurfing in the Philippines, with conditions ideal for beginners in the sheltered bay, and perfect for experts, with consistent high winds further out of the bay.  The company offer a full range of services from tuition to board rentals, and there is a restaurant and accommodation right on the beach making it ideal for watersport enthusiasts to this idyllic island.

They also host training camps and in 2015 will be hosting a kitesurf clinic between Feb 2nd - 24th.  This is open to intermediate and experienced kiteboarders and will ensure you develop your kiteboarding skills to the next level.  This kiteboarding camp in Boracay includes accommodation, kitesurf tuition and even daily yoga classes to keep people feeling refreshed.

The Philippines is one of those countries you could spend your entire life exploring (over 7,000 islands) but many people choose Boracay due to the wide range of activities on offer as well as the high standard of accommodation, food and amenities.  Of course along with kiteboarding and windsurfing of which Boracay is famous for, the scuba diving is world class and there are numerous diving operations on the island.
